Don't Work With Senior Citizens
clientsfromhell:
While creating some mock-ups for a product catalog, I had used the same picture of a product several times throughout the layouts (since it was the only picture they had given me so far.)
(Old) Client: It looks alright, but those pictures are all the same.
Me: Yes, they’re there purely as a visual placeholder to help give you an idea of what it will look like. When I get the...
Presence of Absence; once there, now gone.
Final Project// Human : Nature Presence of Absence; Once present, Now Absent. Most of the time, people lament about how humans are destroying the environment, they destroying beautiful nature with man-made structures. It is not easy to strike a balance for human and nature to co-exist and certainly humans depend on nature for survival. We may be detrimental, but if, however, if one day, were...
Final Project- developmental process
Developmental process
Initially I was inspired by the idea of contrasting the different human effects on nature. My initial idea was that man-made objects can actually enhance scenery but on the other hand, man-made objects can destroy a perfectly beautiful scenery. For example, landscaping and man-made flower pots intricately carved could bring out the best of the flowers, or a fountain, rock...

Assignment 4- Surrealism
Hence, I decided to change my idea to portray freedom of speech.
Singapore’s Freedom of Speech. It is a known thing that Singapore’s freedom of speech comes with a heavy price. Its either you pay for the price/ bear the consequence or you keep your mouth shut. Hence, my picture has 2 different sides. The left side signifies paying the price for speaking and that by opening one’s mouth, it comes...
Assignment 4- Surrealism draft 1
Surrealism is something that does not happen in real life. But i guess there is some degree of attainability. Or maybe some truth to it. It is formed because humans are dissatisfied with current life & wants more.
My initial idea of surrealism wanted to show how photography nowadays are mostly manipulated, even instant photographs could be edited. We all know that we cant edit instant photo....

Assignment 3- Focal Length and Sensor Latitude
from this assignment, i slowly got to realise the impact of focal length on the different photos. personally i like wide angle photographs. i also like to use the 100mm lens. the 100mm lens are really heavy with the DSLR, but the photographs produced are really wayyy nicer compared to taking with a normal lens.
I also tried to use a 100mm lens to take a perspective photograph but somehow it makes...

Assignment 2 - Aperature VS Shutter Speed
For this assignment, we were to play with aperature and shutter speed and ISO to get a perfect mix for the photo. I guess usually we will stick to one aperature if it looks fine. However, I realised that while the differences between f-stops looks barely negligible, it can produce quite a big difference when viewed on large screen.
For example, to shoot a long range of scenery in focus, we should...
Assignment 1 - Objects as Subjects
After a quite disastrous first critique session, i decided to retake most of my photos. Everytime I go out to shoot, I will look out for interesting lines, patterns, texture, form, shapes.
From the school of photography, it seems like these are the fundamentals to look out for when shooting. I realised that almost everything could be used for these photos, but the difficult part was to make these...
Class Exercise C
What was the difference between “Photo Seccession” & “Group f/64”? Photo Secession This group upholded the idea of a pictorial style photography. They felt that photos should be advocated as fine art. For them, photographs should emulate fine art like paintings and artists’ manipulation of image was what made a photo stand out. What was in front of the camera did...
Class Exercise B - Surrealism
Description of class drawing: Lady with a clock for a head. Numberings are in reverse order. Signifies the want to turn back the hands of time. Evokes emotions of regret, disillusionment and sadness.
Coincidentally, the feature of our exercise in class is the clock - also the feature of Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory. This surreal painting is a hallmark in the field of...
